                                   KNITTING PATTERN

CO 20(28, 40,54) sts or any even number of stitches

Set up row: K1, * K1, YO, Slip next stitch purlwise*, to one st before the end, K the last st, turn

Row 1:K1, *K next st (which is a brioche st and it’s a double st, so you are going to be inserting your needle in 2 sts together), YO, sl next st purlwise, * rep from * to * to one st before the end, ( and while your yarn is in the front) K the last st, turn

Repeat row 1 until your scarf has the desired length for the size you are making, following the length suggested in finished measurements above in same page 3

Last row:BO all sts as follows:K1, K next brioche st, once you have two stitches on the right-hand needle, use the tip of the left-hand needle to pull the first stitch back up and over the second stitch and over the tip of the right-hand needle. This will leave one stitch, actually the second stitch you worked, on the right-hand needle. Now K the next st, the one you used to slip purlwise, so again you have two sts,  bind off normally , K the next brioche st,  again you will have 2 sts and you will bind off normally.

Continue this way to the end of the row, cut the yarn and slip this yarn through the last loop and pull tight.

Fasten off, weave in all ends!

Thank you for knitting this scarf, Mary!
