As soon as May arrives I throw myself into the excitement of gardening and I am getting so
tired at the end of the day that is really hard for me to crochet!
Still I have finished this cute baby kimono cardigan and I am happy to post the pattern.

CROCHET PROJECT
The cardigan is
crocheted in pieces, you will crochet from bottom up. It consists of 5 pieces: 1 back piece, 2
fronts, 2 sleeves.
We start
crocheting the back piece.
Then we crochet the
2 front pieces.
We sew the
shoulders and the side seams until the bottom armhole point using the whip
stitch or any other sewing method you feel comfortable with.
We crochet the sleeves
flat in rows. We sew the side seams and then sew the sleeves to the body.
The ties are
easy to make and you sew them on the piece after you have finished

number of chains needed to obtain the size of cardigan you would like to make.

Repeat row 2 to desired length
You are going
to be working approximately this amount of rows (in total) for every size to
obtain the length you want.

FRONT PIECE (make 2pcs)
You are
starting the same way as for the back, you simply start making decreases after
some rows in order to create the kimono shape.

Fasten
off yarn, weave in all ends
SEW shoulders
Place back piece
flat on a table and place front parts on to the back, right sides facing you.
Starting (shoulders)
at the outside, sew fronts to back, leaving unsewn a space in the center which
is the back neckline opening
*Use whip
stitches (or different joining method you like).
SEW UP
the sides until bottom of armholes. Start sewing from
cardigan”s bottom, up to a point so that
you leave unsewn a part for armholes as indicated in chart on page 4 of this
PDF
Tie off and
weave in ends.
Fasten off
SLEEVES (make 2)
Sleeves are
nearly rectangles and they are worked from top (the widest part that matches
the armhole) down to the cuff
With your
crochet hook make a slip knot and chain the number of chains needed for every
size.

You should be
working decreases in some rows so the cuff is shaped well
Decrease row :
ch3, dc2tog(in next 2 sts), dc in each st to last 3 sts before the end,dc2tog,
dc, turn ( 2 sts are decreased)
Note:please advise my sketch on page 10 of this PDF
about how many decrease rows you are going to be working for every size and
work equally spaced these rows.
I will describe all rows for 0-3 mo
Row 1: insert hook in 4rth ch from hook, and work
a dc, * dc in every ch to end, (24sts)turn
Row 2: ch3,dc in next st, dc in every st across
the row to the end, (24sts) turn
Row 3(dec): ch3, dc2tog(in next 2 sts), dc in
each st to last 3 sts before the end,dc2tog, dc, turn ( 2 sts are decreased 22sts)
Rows 4, 5, 6: rep row 2 (22sts)
Row 7(dec): ch3, dc2tog(in next 2 sts), dc in each st to last 3 sts before the end,dc2tog,
dc, turn ( 2 sts are decreased 20sts)
Row 8:rep
row2 (20sts)
Row 9(dec): ch3, dc2tog(in next 2 sts), dc in each st to last 3 sts before the end,dc2tog,
dc, turn ( 2 sts are decreased 18sts)
Rows 10,11: rep row 2 (18sts)
Fasten off, weave in all ends
SEW THE SLEEVES SEAM AND SEW THEM ON THE
CARDIGAN
Fold the sleeves
in half lengthways and sew the sleeve seams.
Then place the midway widest point of sleeves
on to the shoulder seam, right side facing you, pin in place and sew together.
Fasten off,
weave in ends.
TIES
The ties are
easy to make. Chain a cord 6”(15cm) long x4 times, then you sew them on the
piece in indicated points as in photos below.
Picot Edging
You are going to be working a continuous edging across
the left front part, the back neckline and the right front part. Attach yarn at
the bottom of left front part.u
Row 1:ch1, sc in the very first st, sc across to the end ,
turn
Row 2:*ch3, sc in the first ch , sk next st, sc in next 2 sts*, rep from * to * to the end ,
break yarn and weave in all ends.
End of tutorial, thank you Mary!
