My Red Crochet Gloves


Winter is coming in a while ....maybe not in Greece!

So I think its time to start crocheting warm and cosy things like these fingerless gloves!

CROCHET PATTERN

Materials

1 skein of Stylecraft Special DK

100gr=295m/323 yds

tapestry needle

 

Crochet hook

4,5mm (us 7)

 

Finished dimensions

Height 20cm (7,87 inches)

Width 9,5cm (3,54 inches)  near the thumb.

Note: these gloves are crocheted open, then we sew the sides

 

Abbreviations:

Sts=stitches

Ch=chain

Sl st=slip stitch

Rep=repeat

prev=previous

blo=back loops only

inc=increase

Special st, small bobble st: insert hook in st indicated, YO, draw up a loop, 2 loops on hook, YO, insert hook in next st, YO,draw up a loop, 4 loops on hook, YO and pull up through 2 loops, 3 loops now on  hook, YO and pull up through all 3 loops.

2sc tog=work 2 sc in same st

Note: these gloves are crocheted open, we sew the sides together at the end.

Size is women medium

We crochet for the ribbing into the back loops only

Chain 15

Row 1: insert your hook in 2nd ch from hook and work a sc, sc across in every st till the end of row(14  sc). turn

Row 2: Ch 1, sc into the back loop of first sc of prev row, sc in back loops across, turn (14 sc)

Repeat row 2, 24 times more, so we have 26 rows of sc in total.

Note: at this point, check if the size is ok at your wrist, if you want a smaller size work 24 rows, if you want a bigger size, work 28 rows( always a multiple of 2)





Now we are going to crochet down the side of our work, turn your work so the side is facing up, we will sc in each side edge space.

Row 1:ch1, sc in every side edge space, so we work 26 sc , turn

Row 2: ch1, 2sc together in first st(=inc),sc across , till last sc, 2 sc together in last sc(=inc) ( 28 sc), turn

Now a new pattern starts for the main body of gloves a bobble st

Row 1: ch2,*  insert hook in very first sc of prev row, yo, draw up a loop, 2 loops on hook, yo, insert hook in next st, draw up a loop, 4 loops on hook, yo, pull through  2 loops, yo, pull through all 3 loops on hook, ch1* insert your hook in next st and rep from * to * till the end  (14 bobble sts) turn,

Row 2 : ch2,*  insert hook in the very first st, the small triangle that is shaped from sc of prev row, draw up a loop,  yo and insert your hook  in the space right next  to the triangle ( that is the space between bobble sts), draw up a loop, yo , pull through 2 loops, yo , pull all 3 loops, ch1* rep till the end( be carefull for the last bobble, the triangle is a little bit hidden ( 14 bobble sts), turn

Row 3:: ch2,* work 2 bobbles in the beg, that means that you work a bobble at the triangle and a bobble at the space right next to it, work bobble sts till you have 1 bobble left from prev row, work 2 bobble sts at the last bobble of prev row( 16 bobble sts), turn

Row 4 and 5:ch 2, work bobble st in every bobble of prev row, turn (16 bobble sts)




Row 6:sl st 3 times so you paas over the first 2 bobble sts and sl st in the triangle of the 3rd bobble, ch2 , work bobble sts till last 2 bobble sts of prev row(12 bobble sts made), sl st in next st, turn

Row 7: ch2 , work bobble st in every bobble st or prev row(12 bobble st , turn

Row 8: ch2 , work bobble st in every bobble st or prev row(12 bobble st , turn

If you want it longer , work 1 or 2 rows more

 EDGING

 

Cluster=sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc, all in one stitsh

 

Row 1:ch1, sc in first st, sc in next st, sl st in the   in triangle of 2nd bobble st and work a cluster, skip 1 bobble st, *work a cluster in next bobble, skip a bobble* rep from * to * till the end  (5 clusters), sc in last 2 sts, fasten off weave in ends

 

SEWING







Fold the glove in two and sew from the edge till the point I show you in photo, there,we are going to work 2 rows for our thumb

 

THUMB

Join yarn in the edge point of the glove where we made the decrease of bobbles, see photo below

 Row 1:Ch2, bobble st in next 2 bobble sts of prev row, work an extra bobble in the corner, inserting your hook in the seaming space, work 2 more bobbles in bobbles of prev row( 5 bobble sts), turn

 

Row 2:Ch2, bobble sts in all 5 bobble sts of prev row, fasten off weave in ends.

SEWING

Sew the sides of glove beginning from the thumb down.




Fasten off

 

BOW




CH 8

Row 1:sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc across(7sc)

Row 2: ch1, sc in every sc or prev row (7 sc)

Rep row 2, 2 more times

Fasten off, weave in ends

Pinch middle of bow and with a piece of yarn, tighten the middle of bow

Attach it to the glove with a yarn needle.
